Love Language Therapy Launches!

Welcome to the niche of speech, language, feeding, and lactation. We call ourselves Love Language Therapy because we believe in holistic healing. Through a combination of evidence-based, naturalistic, and both structured and unstructured practices, we aspire to create therapy re-teachable by families and caregivers. Our patients are culturally, linguistically, academically, and medically diverse, which is exactly why therapy goals are created one-on-one through a personalized and unique process.

As a second-generation American, I remember being exposed to books, homework activities, and materials that weren’t culturally sensitive or relevant to my family background. I had a difficult time in identifying with holidays and cultural practices that were not a part of my own story. I strive to create a positive environment for my patients by including their family’s favorite recipes in feeding therapy, teaching cultural-specific vocabulary, and playing with sensory-based items from within their home.

The logo of Language Therapy encompasses both the halves of the brain and heart. We provide wholesome patient care that involves training the mind, body, and soul. Additionally, a surrounding triangle holds the organs of the logo. This equilateral triangle symbolizes the message of recovery, which is accomplished through three things--- unity, service, and recovery. Our role as speech, language, feeding, and lactation experts is to work as a team and help our patients integrate within their everyday environments and activities of daily living. The triangle of recovery has been used in many native cultures, including individuals on their journey to sobriety. It represents an avenue for stable, positive energy.

I hope to open up the discussion to universal, inclusive, and well-rounded healthcare practices that incorporate both physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Love Language Therapy is looking for partners who have expertise or specialized skill sets in health/wellness, counseling, trauma and recovery, and other disorders. Together, we can help our patients set goals to speak their love language.

Thank you for embarking on this journey with me! Stay tuned for more updates.

With love,

Sadia Akhtar, SLP
